Listen, I'm just going to say what every rider already knows but won't admit out loud.

You know that feeling when you're 200 kilometres from home, it's getting dark, you can't remember if you filled the tank, there's a weird sound coming from somewhere near the engine, and your phone is at 4%? That's not stress. That's the experience. That's practically the whole point. We ride anyway. Every single time.

Because here's the thing about anxiety, on a bike, it sharpens you. It keeps you present. Every pothole, every blind turn, every time the tyre slips just a little on a wet road, your entire body is suddenly, completely awake. No meeting, no deadline, no notification in the world can do what that moment does to your brain. So yes, my bike runs on anxiety. And petrol. But mostly anxiety.
